When your day starts at 6 AM on a shop floor or a site, a blood test that asks for an overnight fast and a morning queue is one you keep postponing. The Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR asks for neither. It reports 21 parameters from one blood sample: Haemoglobin, RBC Count, Haematocrit, the MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDW-CV indices, Platelet Count, WBC count Total with the full differential and absolute counts, and the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate. No fasting is needed, so the sample can be taken before a shift, after it, or on a day off. Processed at a NABL-accredited laboratory, with digital reports within 24 hours, from 450. Home sample collection is available across Faridabad, including NIT 1, NIT 3, Sector 15, Sector 21C, Sector 28, Sector 37, Old Faridabad, Ballabgarh and Greater Faridabad. Any collection charge is shown in the booking flow.

Reading a CBC with ESR When Your Work Is Physical

At a Glance

Profile: Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR. Tests: 21 parameters. Price: From 450. Fasting: Not required. Sample: Blood. Reports: 24 hours, digital. Home collection: Available across Faridabad; any charge is shown in the booking flow. Lab: NABL-accredited. Faridabad has a large manufacturing and trade workforce, with early starts, rotating shifts and long days on your feet. A CBC fits that pattern better than almost any other blood test because nothing has to be planned: no fast, no preparation, any hour. It is also inside every full body package, starting with the Basic Full Body Checkup (77 parameters), so if your doctor asks for more than one profile, a package costs less than booking each separately. ## Shift Work, Physical Effort and Your Counts A few readings in this profile respond to what you were doing just before the draw. Hard physical effort can push the white cell count, and the neutrophil share in particular, up for a short time, and dehydration after a hot shift can nudge Haemoglobin and Haematocrit upward. None of this is a disease. It is why a borderline result is better repeated on a rest day than acted on straight away. If you can, give the sample before the shift starts or after an hour of rest, and tell your doctor what you had been doing. ## The Red Cell Group Haemoglobin, RBC Count, Haematocrit (HCT), MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDW-CV make up the red cell group. Haemoglobin shows whether you are anaemic, and the indices show what type. MCV is average cell size, MCH and MCHC are haemoglobin content per cell, and RDW-CV is how uneven the sizes are. Small cells usually point to iron deficiency or thalassemia trait, large cells to B12 or folate deficiency. Over 50% of Indian women aged 15–49 are anaemic (NFHS-5, 2019–21), which makes this group the main reason many families in the city test. ## The White Cell Group WBC count Total comes with Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils and Others, each as a percentage and an absolute count. Neutrophil-led results usually accompany bacterial infection, lymphocyte-led results are more typical of viral illness, and high eosinophils suggest allergy or a parasitic cause. Reading the absolute count avoids being misled by a percentage when the total has moved. ## Platelet Count Platelet Count is one of the 21 parameters. Dengue, malaria and chikungunya are endemic across Delhi NCR, and in dengue doctors follow the platelet trend over consecutive days rather than a single figure. A very low automated count should be confirmed, because platelets sometimes clump in the tube and are undercounted. ## ESR Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate goes up in autoimmune disease, chronic infection and some cancers, and changes over days. It tells your doctor that inflammation is present, not where it is. It also rises with age, in pregnancy and in anaemia. Long-standing back, knee or joint pain is a common reason for a doctor to add it. ## Where This Profile Stops A CBC classifies an anaemia but does not explain it. For that the usual next steps are Iron Studies and the Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination, where a pathologist describes the shape and structure of individual cells. The smear is read alongside this profile, never instead of it. If you were hoping this profile would show a kidney or uric acid reading, it will not: those sit in the Kidney Function Test. ## What Is Not Included This profile does not include ferritin or other iron markers, Vitamin B12 or folate levels, creatinine or Uric Acid, Hb electrophoresis or HPLC for thalassemia, a reticulocyte count, PT/INR or APTT clotting tests, C-Reactive Protein, a peripheral smear, a bone marrow examination, or any dengue, malaria or typhoid test. A normal CBC does not exclude an early blood disorder. Each of these is a separate order. ## About the Laboratory Samples are processed at a NABL-accredited laboratory in our network. NABL accreditation is granted to individual laboratories after evaluation of their equipment, processes and personnel; it is not a company-wide certification, and HealthVas does not claim to hold it. ## Sources NFHS-5, 2019–21 Content last reviewed: October 2026

Who Should Book a CBC with ESR in Faridabad?

  • Shift workers on early starts or rotating rosters – If your shift begins before most labs open, or rotates week to week, a fasting test is hard to fit and tends to be skipped. The CBC with ESR needs no fasting and no particular hour, so a sample can be taken at home before work or after it. A result drawn on a rest day is also the cleanest reference for later comparison.
  • People doing heavy physical work who feel run-down – Tiredness is easy to put down to the job, which is how a genuine anaemia goes unchecked for months. Haemoglobin and the red cell indices separate the two: MCV and MCH distinguish small-cell anaemia, usually iron deficiency or thalassemia trait, from large-cell anaemia, which points to B12 or folate deficiency. The panel cannot say which cause applies; it narrows the next test.
  • Women in the household with fatigue, heavy periods or breathlessness – Over 50% of Indian women aged 15–49 are anaemic (NFHS-5, 2019–21). A home draw with no fasting lets a woman be tested without leaving the family routine or missing a meal. Knowing the cell size pattern helps the doctor choose between iron, B12 or folate rather than guessing, and a repeat CBC later confirms whether treatment is working.
  • Older residents of established sectors and Old Faridabad – In NIT and the older neighbourhoods, many residents are long-standing blood-pressure or diabetes patients who are asked for a CBC regularly, and before any procedure. Haemoglobin, Platelet Count and the white cell values form the baseline a surgeon or physician asks for. With no fasting needed, a visit mid-morning is as valid as one at dawn.
  • Anyone with a fever that has not settled in three or four days – The white cell differential is a fast, low-cost indicator of the type of illness. Platelet Count matters because dengue, malaria and chikungunya are endemic across Delhi NCR; in dengue the trend across days guides the doctor. This profile narrows the possibilities and does not confirm a specific infection, which needs its own test.
  • Anyone with long-standing joint or back pain and stiffness – Manual work causes aches that are mechanical, but some joint pain is inflammatory. ESR is included in this profile and rises with autoimmune disease, chronic infection and some cancers. It is non-specific, so a raised value only tells your doctor to look further, usually with C-Reactive Protein, RA Factor or Anti-CCP.

How to Prepare

Fasting: Not required. Eat and drink normally. You do not need to rearrange a shift around this test. Sample: One venous blood draw into an EDTA tube. All 21 parameters, ESR included, run from it. After a physical shift: Hard effort and dehydration can briefly change white cell counts and Haemoglobin. If possible, draw the sample before work or after an hour's rest, drink water normally and tell your doctor what you had been doing. Medications: Continue prescribed medicines unless your doctor says otherwise. Steroids, chemotherapy and some antibiotics change white cell counts, and recently started iron or B12 supplements change how a borderline haemoglobin reads. Recent illness: Any current infection, even a cold, moves white cell counts and ESR. Mention anything in the last two weeks. Repeat samples: If you are tracking platelets or haemoglobin, take each sample at roughly the same point in your day. Home collection: Available across Faridabad, including NIT 1, NIT 2, NIT 5, Sector 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 21A, 29, 46, 55, Old Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Neharpar and Surajkund. Any charge is shown in the booking flow. Reports: Digital within 24 hours, with reference ranges and flagged abnormal values.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR in Faridabad

What is included in the Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR profile?

21 parameters from one blood sample: Haemoglobin, RBC Count, Haematocrit (HCT), MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW-CV, Platelet Count, WBC count Total, Neutrophils, Neutrophil-Absolute Count, Lymphocytes, Lymphocytes-Absolute Count, Monocytes, Monocytes-Absolute Count, Eosinophils, Eosinophils-Absolute Count, Basophils, Basophils-Absolute Count, Others, and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). No fasting is required and reports are digital within 24 hours.

Do I need to fast before a CBC with ESR test in Faridabad?

No. The Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR needs no fasting, so you can eat and drink normally and give the sample at any hour. That makes it practical for early-morning and rotating shifts. Full body packages differ, because they contain a Lipid Profile and fasting glucose that need an overnight fast.

What is the price of a CBC with ESR test in Faridabad?

The Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR starts from 450. The final amount, including any home collection charge, is shown in the booking flow before you confirm. For several profiles at once, a full body package starting with the Basic Full Body Checkup (77 parameters) includes this CBC and costs less than booking each separately.

Is home sample collection available across Faridabad?

Yes. A phlebotomist visits for home sample collection across Faridabad, including NIT 1, NIT 2, NIT 5, Sector 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 21A, 29, 46, 55, Old Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Neharpar and Surajkund. Any collection charge is shown in the booking flow before you confirm.

Can I give the sample before or after a physical shift?

Yes, either works, and no fasting is needed. Heavy effort or dehydration can briefly raise white cell counts and Haemoglobin, so before a shift or after an hour's rest gives the cleanest reading. If the result is borderline, your doctor may suggest repeating it on a rest day rather than acting on one value.

Can hard physical work change my CBC result?

Briefly, yes. Strenuous effort can raise the white cell count, especially neutrophils, for a short time, and fluid loss can nudge Haemoglobin and Haematocrit upward. These changes settle within hours. Physical work does not cause anaemia by itself, and a persistently low Haemoglobin needs medical evaluation rather than being attributed to the job.

Do you collect samples in Ballabgarh and the older parts of Faridabad?

Yes. Home collection covers Ballabgarh, Old Faridabad, Neharpar and Greater Faridabad as well as the NIT and numbered sectors. Give a landmark and a working phone number at booking so the phlebotomist can reach narrow lanes and older residential blocks without delay.

Does this test include a Platelet Count?

Yes. Platelet Count is one of the 21 parameters, so it does not need a separate order. Doctors follow it through a dengue illness, where the trend across days matters more than a single reading. A very low automated result should be confirmed on a slide, since clumped platelets can be undercounted.

Can a CBC tell me why I am anaemic?

It classifies the anaemia but cannot establish the cause. MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDW-CV show whether red cells are small, normal or large. Confirming why usually needs Iron Studies, Vitamin B12 and folate levels, or a Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination, depending on what the indices suggest.

What does a high ESR mean?

A high Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate means inflammation is present somewhere in the body. It rises with autoimmune disease, chronic infection and some cancers, and also with age, pregnancy and anaemia. It cannot show where the inflammation is, so your doctor reads it with your symptoms and usually orders further tests.

Is a CBC enough, or do I need a peripheral smear too?

For routine purposes a CBC is enough. The Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination is added when counts are abnormal and unexplained, when a very low platelet count needs confirming, or when a doctor wants to look for malarial parasites or abnormal cells. It is read alongside the CBC and does not replace it.

Which full body packages include this CBC?

Every full body package includes the Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR, starting with the Basic Full Body Checkup (77 parameters), together with the Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination. If you need more than one profile, a package costs less than booking them separately.

How long do CBC reports take?

Digital reports arrive within 24 hours of the sample reaching the laboratory, listing all 21 parameters with reference ranges and flagged abnormal values. If your doctor wants the result by a particular appointment, book at least a day ahead.

Is the laboratory NABL-accredited?

Yes, samples are processed at a NABL-accredited laboratory in our network. NABL accreditation is granted to individual laboratories after evaluation of their equipment, processes and personnel; it is not a company-wide certification, and HealthVas does not claim to hold it.

Can a normal CBC rule out a serious blood disorder?

Not completely. A normal CBC makes many blood disorders unlikely but does not exclude an early one, says nothing about clotting, and does not detect thalassemia trait. If symptoms persist despite normal counts, your doctor may order a smear, Iron Studies or other tests.

Can I book this test for a parent or spouse in Faridabad?

Yes. You can book for a parent or spouse and give their address and phone number for the home visit. Because no fasting is needed, an older family member does not need an early start. Mention any blood-thinning medicine to the phlebotomist before the draw.
