Package: Basic Fever Package. Tests: 45 parameters, 5 components. Price: From 699. Fasting: Not required. Sample: Blood and urine, single visit. Reports: 12 hours, digital. Home collection: Free across Greater Noida. Lab: NABL-accredited. A person on day three of a fever is the worst possible traveller, and Greater Noida is laid out in a way that asks people to travel. The sectors sit far apart, collection centres are thinly spread, and the trip to hand over a blood sample is precisely the errand a febrile patient should not be running. This tier removes the trip: blood and urine are taken at your door in one visit, malaria and typhoid are tested directly, the urine is screened for infection, and the blood count and a pathologist-prepared slide are read for the patterns those illnesses leave. One limitation decides whether this is the right tier: there is no dengue test in this package. If the fever began within the past week and dengue is plausible, the Advance Fever Package adds Dengue NS1 Antigen (Rapid), Typhidot by ELISA and full Kidney Function and Liver Function profiles to this same base. ## Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination Two of this profile's five findings are the ones a doctor treating fever reads first, and neither comes from a machine. The first is Platelets. Platelets stick together in the sample tube, and an automated analyser counts a clump of them as a single cell — so the printed count can read alarmingly low in someone whose true count is fine. In a suspected dengue case that false low is a reason to escalate. Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination is a slide prepared from your sample and read under a microscope by a qualified pathologist, who sees the clumps for what they are. The second is Hemoparasites: malarial parasites looked for inside your red blood cells by eye, found rather than inferred from an indirect marker. The profile reports both, plus Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells and a written Impression from the pathologist. None of this can be automated. A person prepares each slide and reads it, which is pathologist time rather than analyser throughput, and it is the line item dropped first when a fever package is priced down. The red cell appearance carries information the count averages away. Small pale cells fit iron deficiency, unusually large cells fit B12 or folate deficiency, sickle shapes fit sickle cell disease, and blast cells raise the possibility of leukaemia. With over 50% of Indian women aged 15–49 anaemic (NFHS-5, 2019–21), a low haemoglobin turning up on a fever panel is common, and the slide is what gives it a direction. ## Typhoid Testing: What Widal Can and Cannot Show Widal (Slide Agglutination Test) detects antibodies against Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi. It is the long-standing, widely available typhoid screen in India, and its limits are documented well enough to state plainly. It cross-reacts with other Salmonella species, and antibodies persist after a past infection or a typhoid vaccination, so a single positive result in an endemic area does not establish current infection. Titres also need roughly a week of illness to rise, so a sample drawn on day 2 or day 3 can read negative in someone who does have typhoid. A confident interpretation classically needs paired samples 7 to 10 days apart showing a rising titre. Typhidot, which detects IgM and IgG antibodies specific to Salmonella typhi and turns positive earlier in the illness, is not in this package — it sits in the Advance Fever Package and the Comprehensive Fever Package. One caveat covers all three tiers: blood culture remains the reference standard for typhoid, and none of these packages includes it. If your doctor needs certainty before starting an antibiotic, ask for one, drawn before the first dose. ## The Other 3 Components CBC with ESR (21): Haemoglobin, RBC and platelet counts, haematocrit, the full white cell differential and the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate — the pattern-reading component. A low platelet count with a raised haematocrit suggests dengue, a neutrophil-predominant rise suggests bacterial infection, lymphocytosis a viral one. MALARIA ANTIGEN -EIA (1): An enzyme immunoassay for malarial antigen, read alongside the smear; antigen can stay detectable for some days after treatment has cleared the parasites. Complete Urine Analysis (17): Colour, appearance, protein, glucose, nitrites, leukocytes, pus cells, red cells, casts and crystals — the screen that names urinary infection as the fever source, a cause blood tests miss entirely. It detects overt proteinuria, not microalbuminuria. ## Limitations No dengue marker of any kind, and no chikungunya, scrub typhus, leptospira, COVID-19 or influenza test. No blood culture, no C-Reactive Protein, no Procalcitonin, no imaging. A normal result does not name a cause; it shortens the list. Fever with breathlessness, persistent vomiting, bleeding, drowsiness or falling urine output needs in-person medical assessment, not a repeat blood test. ## Sources NFHS-5, 2019–21 Content last reviewed: October 2026
