Profile: Kidney Function Test (KFT). Tests: 12 parameters. Price: From 390. Fasting: Not required. Sample: Serum. Reports: 24 hours, digital. Home collection: Available across Noida. Lab: NABL-accredited. For anyone working US or European hours, a Kidney Function Test (KFT) is easier to schedule than most blood tests because there is no fast and no required hour. The sample can be drawn after a night shift, before one, or on a rest day. Doctors order it for raised uric acid or creatinine, for diabetes or blood pressure follow-up, for ankle swelling, or before starting certain medicines. ## The 12 Parameters Creatinine is a muscle by-product filtered by the kidneys, and GFR by MDRD Formula turns it into an estimated filtration rate using age and sex. Two honest limits: creatinine moves late, after considerable function is gone, and the MDRD figure is only an estimate. Urea, Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), BUN / Creatinine ratio and Urea / Creatinine Ratio are related views of nitrogen waste. A high ratio often points to dehydration rather than kidney disease. Uric Acid is a purine breakdown product connected to gout and kidney stones. Sodium, Potassium and Chloride are the electrolytes, with potassium the one doctors watch closely. Calcium and Phosphorus - Serum complete the set. ## Fluids, Caffeine and Shift Work Night shifts often mean a lot of tea, coffee or energy drinks and less plain water. Poor hydration can lift urea, BUN and uric acid for a day and exaggerate a creatinine value, so drink water as you normally would on the day of the test. Late-night meals that are heavy in meat can raise creatinine and urea briefly. This is a practical point about interpreting a result, not a claim that shift work harms the kidneys. ## Timing the Draw Creatinine and urea do not follow a strong daily rhythm the way cortisol or TSH do, so an unusual collection hour does not invalidate the result. If you are repeating the test to follow a trend, keep conditions similar: similar hydration, no hard workout the day before, and ideally the same stage of your shift cycle. ## Diabetes and the Kidney 101 million Indian adults have diabetes (Anjana RM, Mohan V, et al., ICMR-INDIAB, Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, 2023;11(7):474–489), and the kidney is one of the organs it affects. For young Noida professionals with a family history, a first baseline KFT is worth having on record. ## Medicines, Supplements and the Report Regular painkillers, some antibiotics, certain blood pressure medicines, and creatine or protein supplements can all change kidney values; creatine can raise creatinine without any kidney damage. Tell the phlebotomist what you take and continue prescribed medicine unless your doctor says otherwise. The report flags values outside the reference range, and a borderline creatinine is commonly repeated after normal fluids before any further steps. ## Reading a Raised Result A single borderline value is commonly repeated before any conclusion. A persistently raised creatinine, a falling GFR or a high potassium needs a doctor's attention sooner, and a high uric acid on its own does not mean gout. The report flags every value outside the reference range for your doctor to read alongside symptoms and history. ## Collection and Packages Home collection is available in Sector 18, 50, 62, 75, 78, 120, 128, Noida Extension and elsewhere, and any charge is shown in the booking flow. The Kidney Function Test (KFT) is included in every full body package, starting with the Basic Full Body Checkup (77 parameters), with the Liver Function Test (LFT), Lipid Profile and Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR. If you need several panels, a package costs less than separate bookings, but needs a 10-hour fast that this profile does not. ## What Is Not Included No urine tests. A routine urine dipstick detects overt protein but not microalbuminuria, and early diabetic kidney damage needs a urine microalbumin / ACR test. No cystatin C, Magnesium, Bicarbonate, parathyroid hormone, Vitamin D, kidney ultrasound or stone workup. A normal KFT does not rule out early kidney damage. ## Sources Anjana RM, Mohan V, et al.
