In a home with grandparents, parents and children under one roof, one person's fever quickly becomes the whole household's worry. The Dengue NS1 Antigen (Rapid) test gives an early answer: it looks for a protein the dengue virus releases into the blood, usually detectable up to about day 5 to 7 of fever, before dengue antibodies appear. One blood draw, no fasting, report within 12 hours, processed at a NABL-accredited laboratory in our network. From 600. Home collection is available across Delhi, including Saket, Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, Dwarka, Rohini, Pitampura, Karol Bagh, Mayur Vihar and Janakpuri, so a sample can be taken without moving an unwell parent or child. Any collection charge is shown before you confirm.

What the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test Tells You

At a Glance

Test: Dengue NS1 Antigen (Rapid). Result: Positive or negative. Price: From 600. Fasting: Not required. Sample: Blood (serum). Reports: Within 12 hours, digital. Home collection: Available across Delhi; any charge is shown at booking. Lab: NABL-accredited. ## What the Test Looks For During active dengue infection the virus releases a protein called NS1 into the blood. This test detects it. It becomes detectable in the early days of fever and fades as the body mounts its own response, so the test is most informative in roughly the first five to seven days. After that, the antibodies IgM and then IgG are the better evidence. ## Positive, Negative, and What Each Does Not Mean A positive result points to current dengue infection and should be shown to a doctor on the same day. A negative result is not the end of the question. It can be negative when the fever is several days old, when the virus level is low, or in a repeat infection, where the test detects fewer cases than in a first infection. Persistent fever usually leads doctors to repeat the test or add dengue IgM and IgG. ## Households With More Than One Generation Many homes in Delhi have an elderly parent, working adults and school-age children living together, and a fever in any of them raises questions for all. Dengue can be more worrying in the very young and the elderly, so early confirmation tells the family how closely to watch. Home collection means nobody has to travel while unwell, and one visit can often cover more than one family member if several are unwell. ## Following the Blood Count Doctors follow the Platelet Count over several days in dengue, because a falling trend guides care. The Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR is a separate test that can be added. Dengue and malaria are endemic across Delhi NCR, and cases generally rise after the monsoon. ## Warning Signs Do not wait for a report if there is severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding from the gums or nose, black stools, extreme drowsiness or restlessness, or cold clammy skin as the fever settles; go to a hospital. Doctors generally advise against aspirin and ibuprofen when dengue is suspected, so ask which fever medicine is safe, particularly for older family members who may already take blood-thinning medicines. ## What Is Not Included This is a single test. It does not include Dengue IgM or IgG, a Platelet Count or full blood count, dengue PCR or serotyping, or any malaria, typhoid or chikungunya test. The Dengue Profile-Rapid Dengue IgG, Dengue IgM, Dengue NS1 Ag covers all three dengue markers in one booking and suits a fever that has already lasted several days. A doctor should read every result alongside symptoms. Content last reviewed: October 2026

Who Should Get a Dengue NS1 Test?

  • Anyone in the first five days of a fever – NS1 is detectable from the early days of illness, before dengue antibodies appear, so an early sample gives the most dependable answer. A negative result after about a week means much less, and doctors usually switch to IgM and IgG.
  • A grandparent or older parent with a fever – Dengue can be more worrying in older adults, and some take blood-thinning medicines that make fever-medicine choices matter. Early confirmation helps the doctor decide how closely to monitor. Home collection avoids a trip across the city.
  • Families where several people are unwell at once – When two or three people in one home have fever, testing each separately across several days is slow. Adding each person at booking lets one visit cover them, and each receives their own report.
  • Children with a high fever and body pain – Children can become unwell quickly with dengue. Early confirmation guides how closely they are watched, and the draw is a single small sample taken at home.
  • Anyone whose platelet count has begun to fall – A falling platelet count in a person with fever is a reason to confirm or exclude dengue. Add a Platelet Count to follow the trend; readings across several days matter more than a single figure.
  • Residents of Delhi during and after the monsoon – Dengue and malaria are endemic across Delhi NCR, and cases usually rise after the rains. A fever in that season warrants an early test instead of several days of treating it as an ordinary viral illness.

How to Prepare

Fasting: Not required. Eat and drink normally. Timing: Book as soon as a fever starts. The test works best in roughly the first five to seven days. Note the day the fever began and tell your doctor. Sample: One venous blood draw. Nothing else is collected. Medicines: Continue prescribed medicines. Doctors generally advise against aspirin and ibuprofen when dengue is suspected. If an older family member takes blood-thinning medicine, tell the doctor before giving any fever medicine. More than one person unwell: add each person's details at booking so one visit can cover them. Each person needs their own sample and report. Home collection: Available across Delhi — Saket, Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, Vasant Kunj, Lajpat Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Dwarka, Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden, Paschim Vihar, Rohini, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar and Laxmi Nagar. Any collection charge is shown at booking. Reports: Digital, within 12 hours of collection, with the result marked positive or negative.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Dengue NS1 Antigen (Rapid) in Delhi

What does the dengue NS1 rapid test detect?

It detects NS1, a protein the dengue virus releases into the blood during active infection. The result is qualitative: positive or negative. NS1 can be found from the early days of fever, usually up to about day 5 to 7.

What is the price of a dengue NS1 test in Delhi?

It starts from 600 in Delhi. Home sample collection is available across the city and any collection charge is shown in the booking flow before you confirm. Digital reports are included.

Is home collection available in Delhi?

Yes, across Delhi including Saket, Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, Dwarka, Janakpuri, Rohini, Pitampura, Karol Bagh, Mayur Vihar and Laxmi Nagar. Any collection charge is shown before you confirm.

Can I book the test for a parent or grandparent?

Yes. Add their details at booking and choose a slot. The phlebotomist comes to the house, so an unwell or less mobile family member does not have to travel, and the report is issued in their name.

Can one visit cover several family members with fever?

Yes. Add each person at booking. Each needs their own sample and receives their own report, but a single visit can cover them all.

On which day of fever should I take the test?

As early as possible, ideally within the first five days. NS1 is highest early and falls as the immune system responds. After about a week dengue IgM and IgG are more informative, and a negative NS1 means much less.

Does a negative NS1 rule out dengue?

No. It can be negative when the fever is more than a few days old, when the virus level is low, or in a repeat infection. If symptoms continue, doctors usually repeat it or add dengue IgM and IgG. Do not stop follow-up because of a single negative result.

What is the difference between NS1, IgM and IgG?

NS1 is a viral protein showing current infection in the early days. IgM is the first antibody, appearing a few days in. IgG is the later antibody, which rises in a repeat infection and can persist after recovery. The Dengue Profile-Rapid Dengue IgG, Dengue IgM, Dengue NS1 Ag tests all three together.

Do I need to fast?

No. There is no fasting and no preparation. Noting the day the fever began is more useful than any preparation.

How long does the report take?

Digital reports are issued within 12 hours of sample collection, with the result marked positive or negative.

Should I also get a platelet count?

Often, yes. Doctors follow the blood count in dengue, and a falling Platelet Count is the figure they watch. Serial counts over several days tell more than one reading. Platelet Count and the Complete Blood Count (CBC) + ESR can be booked with this test.

Are fever medicines safe to give while waiting for the result?

Doctors generally advise against aspirin and ibuprofen when dengue is suspected because of bleeding risk. Ask your doctor which medicine is safe, especially for an older family member who takes blood-thinning medicine. This is general information, not medical advice.

Which symptoms mean I should go to hospital instead of waiting?

Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding from the gums or nose, black stools, extreme drowsiness or restlessness, or cold clammy skin as the fever settles. These can signal severe dengue and should be seen urgently.

Is the lab NABL-accredited?

Yes. Your sample is processed at a NABL-accredited laboratory in our network. NABL accreditation is granted to individual laboratories after evaluation of their equipment, processes and personnel. It is not a company-wide certification, and HealthVas does not claim to hold accreditation itself.
