The Hair Fall Test Package for Men shares the systemic base but carries androgens; this one does not. ## No Androgens: Check This Before You Book There is no Testosterone and no Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in this package. Female pattern hair loss, and hair loss linked to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), are substantially androgen-driven, so this package does not assess androgenic or PCOS-related hair loss. If androgen excess is suspected — irregular or absent cycles, adult acne, excess facial or body hair alongside the thinning — Testosterone Total and Free DHT are separate tests a doctor may add. The Sex Hormone Binding Globulin in this list is a carrier protein and does not measure androgen activity. It covers where most hair loss in Indian women sits: iron deficiency, the commonest cause, with over 50% of women aged 15–49 anaemic (NFHS-5, 2019–21); thyroid disease, about three times as common in Indian women as in men, 15.86% against 5.02% (Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013;17(4):647–652); vitamin D and B12; zinc and magnesium; Cortisol Serum for stress-related telogen effluvium; and the FSH, LH, Prolactin and Estradiol group for cycle-related, perimenopausal and prolactin-driven causes. ## The Second Draw Is the One That Does Not Happen Hair fall testing is rarely one event: iron, vitamin D, B12 and thyroid values are normally rechecked after three months of treatment, because regrowth is slow. In Greater Noida that recheck is where the process breaks: the sectors are spread out, collection centres are not as densely distributed here as in older parts of NCR, and a second trip competes with everything else. Both draws can happen at your door instead, in Alpha 2, Beta 2, Gamma 1, Chi 1 or Gaur City, and the second report reads as a trend rather than a snapshot. Systemic hair loss is usually telogen effluvium: follicles leave their growth phase together and shed two to three months after the trigger, so the first report describes a cause that began earlier. ## Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination A qualified pathologist prepares a slide from your blood and reads it under a microscope, cell by cell — no instrument does this, so the cost is pathologist time, which is why packages built to a price cut it. Five findings are reported: Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Platelets, Hemoparasites, and a written Impression. The case for it in a women's panel is specific. Iron and B12 deficiency are both common in Indian women, often together, and they pull red cell size in opposite directions: iron deficiency makes cells small and pale, B12 or folate deficiency makes them large. With both present, the averaged CBC index can land inside the normal range while neither deficiency is corrected. On the slide a pathologist sees two populations rather than one average, and says so in the Impression. The same slide shows sickle-shaped cells, blast cells that may indicate leukaemia, platelet clumping that automated counters report as a dangerously low count, and, under Hemoparasites, malarial parasites — no formality in Delhi NCR, where dengue and malaria are endemic. ## The Hormone and Cycle Group Cortisol Serum (1): the main stress hormone; it follows a daily rhythm, so only a morning sample is interpretable. Prolactin (1): raised prolactin disturbs the cycle and can cause shedding, but stress and several medicines raise it too, so one high value is normally repeated. IHC- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) (1) and Luteinising Hormone (1): pituitary hormones indicating ovarian function and perimenopause. Estradiol / Estrogen, Serum (1): falling oestrogen around menopause causes diffuse thinning. These vary by cycle day — note your last period date at booking. ## The Other 11 Components Iron Studies (5): Serum Iron, TIBC, UIBC, Transferrin, % Iron Saturation. Ferritin, the most sensitive single iron marker in hair loss, is not in this profile; a doctor may add it. CBC with ESR (21): anaemia, infection, inflammation. Thyroid Profile (3): TT3, TT4, TSH. Active Vitamin - B12 (1): holotranscobalamin, the fraction cells can use, not total B12, which can read normal while the usable share is low; 47–70% of Indians are deficient, over 70% among vegetarians (Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006;54:775–782). Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) (1): under 20 ng/mL deficiency (Endocrine Society, 2011); Indian prevalence 40% to over 90% (Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014;39(4):178–184). Zinc Serum (1), Magnesium (1): keratin synthesis. C-Reactive Protein - CRP Quantitative (1): inflammation in mg/L; standard CRP, not hs-CRP. Anti Nuclear Antibody (ANA) (1): screens for autoimmune disease such as lupus, which can scar follicles permanently; it is also positive in a meaningful share of healthy people and needs clinical interpretation. Liver Function Test (12), Kidney Function Test (12): chronic organ disease thins hair. ## Sources NFHS-5, 2019–21 · Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013;17(4):647–652 · Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006;54:775–782 · Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014;39(4):178–184 · Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline, 2011 Content last reviewed: October 2026
