This is the 14-component Comprehensive Full Body Checkup with CRP & RA Factor plus three tests specific to men: Testosterone Total, Prostate Specific Antigen - PSA (Total) and Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA). The tier above it, the Comprehensive Health Checkup for Men, adds exactly three further tests — Amylase, Lipase and CA19.9, all pancreatic. If you have no reason to test the pancreas, this is the version to book. The CRP here is reported qualitatively — positive or negative, not a number. If your doctor wants a CRP value trackable across repeat tests, the Comprehensive Full Body Checkup with CRP & RA Factor reports it quantitatively in mg/L and costs less. ## Testosterone Total Testosterone Total screens for hypogonadism: persistent fatigue, low libido, loss of muscle mass and strength, low mood and poor concentration. Testosterone follows a daily rhythm, highest in the early morning, so the sample should be drawn between 7 and 10 AM; an afternoon sample can read low in a man whose testosterone is normal. A single low value is not a diagnosis. The standard next step is a repeat morning sample with free testosterone or Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), because total testosterone is mostly bound to SHBG and albumin, which shift with obesity, thyroid and liver disease. LH and FSH, which separate testicular from pituitary causes, are not included. ## PSA and CEA — what these tumour markers can and cannot do Both are screening aids, not answers: a doctor reads them alongside your symptoms, examination and, where needed, imaging. A raised value has many non-cancerous causes; a normal value does not exclude cancer. Prostate Specific Antigen - PSA (Total) is produced by prostate tissue generally, not by prostate cancer specifically. It rises with benign prostatic hyperplasia — the age-related prostate enlargement — with prostatitis and urinary infection, even after recent cycling or ejaculation. A normal PSA does not rule prostate cancer out. A raised result is a reason to see a urologist, who may repeat it after treating any infection, examine the prostate, or order free-to-total PSA or MRI. Carcino Embryonic Antigen (CEA) is used mainly to monitor colorectal cancer already diagnosed, not to find it. Smokers run higher baselines as a rule, and CEA also rises in inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis and cirrhosis. A normal CEA does not exclude bowel cancer — colonoscopy or a faecal immunochemical test is the screening tool for that. ## Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination Automated analysers count blood cells; they cannot look at them. Here a qualified pathologist prepares a slide from your sample and reads it by hand, reporting five findings: Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Platelets, Hemoparasites and a written Impression. The CBC tells you haemoglobin is low; the smear tells you why. Small pale cells point to iron deficiency, large cells to B12 or folate deficiency, sickle-shaped cells to sickle cell disease. The pathologist also catches blast cells, which can indicate leukaemia, and platelet clumping that an automated counter misreads as a low platelet count. The Hemoparasites finding looks for malarial parasites inside red cells — relevant in Delhi NCR, where malaria and dengue circulate every monsoon. It is manual pathologist time, so it is the line item most often dropped to hold a price point. ## The Other 13 Components CBC with ESR (21): Anaemia, infection, inflammation, blood disorders. Liver Function (12): SGOT/SGPT separate fatty liver from alcohol-related damage; GGT is the earliest alcohol marker. NAFLD affects 30–40% of urban Indian adults (Duseja et al., Indian J Gastroenterol, 2022). Kidney Function (12): Creatinine and GFR stage kidney disease; uric acid screens for gout. Lipid Profile (9): Non-HDL cholesterol predicts risk better than LDL alone (AHA/ACC, 2018), plus three cardiac ratios. Complete Urine Analysis (17): Overt proteinuria, glycosuria, urinary infection — not microalbuminuria, so early diabetic kidney damage needs a separate urine microalbumin/ACR test. Blood Glucose Fasting (1) and HbA1c (2): Under 100 mg/dL normal, 100–125 prediabetes, 126+ diabetes; HbA1c adds a three-month average (ADA, 2024). 101 million Indian adults have diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB, Lancet, 2023). Anaemia and haemoglobin variants distort HbA1c, so read it with the CBC. Thyroid Profile (3): One in ten Indian adults is hypothyroid (Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013). Iron Studies (5): Separates iron deficiency from chronic-disease anaemia; thalassemia trait needs Hb electrophoresis or HPLC. Vitamin B12 (1): 47–70% of Indians deficient (Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006). Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) (1): Deficiency 40% to over 90% (Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014). RA Factor (1): Positive in only 70–80% of rheumatoid arthritis; a negative does not exclude it. CRP, qualitative (1): Inflammation present or absent; not hs-CRP, the cardiac-risk assay. ## Sources Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013;17(4):647–652 · Anjana et al., ICMR-INDIAB, Lancet Diab Endo, 2023;11(7):474–489 · Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006;54:775–782 · Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014;39(4):178–184 · ADA, 2024 · AHA/ACC, 2018 · Duseja et al., Indian J Gastroenterol, 2022 Content last reviewed: October 2026
