Package: Hair Fall Test Package for Women. Tests: 70 parameters, 18 components. Price: From 2199. Fasting: Not required. Sample: Blood, single draw, morning slot preferred. Reports: 24 hours, digital. Home collection: Free across Faridabad. Lab: NABL-accredited. Eighteen components covering the nutritional, thyroid, stress and cycle-hormone causes of hair loss in women. The Hair Fall Test Package for Men shares the systemic base but carries androgens; this does not. ## No Androgens: Settle This Before Booking There is no Testosterone and no Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in this package. Female pattern hair loss, and hair loss linked to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), are substantially androgen-driven, so this package does not assess androgenic or PCOS-related hair loss. If androgen excess is suspected — irregular or absent cycles, adult acne, excess facial or body hair alongside the thinning — Testosterone Total and Free DHT are separate tests a doctor may add. The Sex Hormone Binding Globulin here is a carrier protein; with no testosterone value to read it against, it does not measure androgen activity. It covers where most hair loss in Indian women sits: iron deficiency, the commonest cause, with over 50% of women aged 15–49 anaemic (NFHS-5, 2019–21); thyroid disease, three times as common in Indian women as in men, 15.86% against 5.02% (Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013); vitamin D and B12; zinc and magnesium; Cortisol Serum for stress-related telogen effluvium; and the FSH, LH, Prolactin and Estradiol group for cycle-related, perimenopausal and prolactin-driven causes. ## A Physically Hard Day Changes How Three Values Read C-Reactive Protein - CRP Quantitative reports inflammation as a number in mg/L, which makes it trackable across repeat tests. Strenuous exertion raises it transiently, and raises creatinine and uric acid in the Kidney Function Test with it. Heavy domestic, standing and manual work all count, so a sample after a demanding day can show a mildly raised CRP and flagged creatinine describing the day, not disease. The usual instruction to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours assumes activity you can skip. Where the work is not optional, book the draw after your longest gap from it and say what it involves. Mention fever or illness in the past two weeks too, since CRP rises with any infection. Cortisol Serum has its own version of the problem: it is interpretable only on a rested morning sample, so an early slot beats one squeezed in afterwards. ## Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination Iron deficiency changes the look of a red cell before it changes the count. Cells turn smaller and paler while haemoglobin is still inside the reference range, so a woman can be told her haemoglobin is normal while her follicles are already short of iron. This profile is where that shows: a qualified pathologist prepares a slide, reads it under a microscope and reports Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Platelets, Hemoparasites and a written Impression. No analyser does this, so the cost is pathologist time — the line item cut first to hold a price point. Small pale cells point to iron deficiency, large cells to B12 or folate deficiency, sickle-shaped cells to sickle cell disease. The same slide shows blast cells that may indicate leukaemia, clumped platelets an analyser returns as dangerously low, and malarial parasites under Hemoparasites — endemic with dengue in Delhi NCR, where a fever illness triggers shedding months later. ## The Lag, and the Cycle Hormones Systemic hair loss is usually telogen effluvium: follicles leave their growth phase together and shed roughly two to three months after the trigger, so today's report describes a cause that began earlier. Prolactin disturbs the cycle when raised, but stress and several medicines raise it too, so a high value is repeated. IHC- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinising Hormone and Estradiol / Estrogen, Serum vary by cycle day — note your last period date at booking, or say that periods have stopped, which is equally informative. ## The Other 11 Components Iron Studies (5): Serum Iron, TIBC, UIBC, Transferrin, % Saturation. Ferritin, the most sensitive single iron marker in hair loss, is not in this profile; a doctor may add it, read against CRP, since inflammation raises it. CBC with ESR (21): anaemia, infection, inflammation. Thyroid Profile (3): TT3, TT4, TSH. Cortisol Serum (1): morning sample only. Active Vitamin - B12 (1): holotranscobalamin, the fraction cells can use, not total B12, which can read normal while the usable share is low; 47–70% of Indians deficient, over 70% of vegetarians (Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006). Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) (1): under 20 ng/mL deficiency, 20–30 insufficiency (Endocrine Society, 2011); Indian prevalence 40% to over 90% (Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014). Zinc Serum (1), Magnesium (1): keratin synthesis. Anti Nuclear Antibody (ANA) (1): screens for autoimmune disease such as lupus, which can scar follicles permanently, but is positive in many healthy people. Liver Function Test (12), Kidney Function Test (12): chronic organ disease thins hair. ## Sources NFHS-5, 2019–21 · Unnikrishnan et al., IJEM, 2013;17(4):647–652 · Yajnik et al., JAPI, 2006;54:775–782 · Ritu & Gupta, IJCM, 2014;39(4):178–184 · Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline, 2011 Content last reviewed: October 2026
